Michael Aratow, MD practices Emergency Medicine at San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) where he is also Chief Medical Information Officer. There he has helped to implement three different Electronic Medical Records in the Emergency Department, outpatient and inpatient environments. Dr. Aratow assists in IT strategy, IT innovation and Business Intelligence for SMMC, as well as various initiatives such as Meaningful Use and ICD10. Dr. Aratow most recently was also the Director of Medical Informatics for CEP America.
Dr. Aratow received his bachelor’s in Biological Sciences, Cum Laude, from the University of California, Irvine, his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles David Geffen School of Medicine, a surgical internship at University of California, San Francisco and his Emergency Medicine training at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital in Chicago. He also has performed an orthopedic research fellowship at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine and was a research consultant at NASA-Ames Research Center in basic physiology and virtual environment projects. Michael is active in 3D computer graphics standards activities, especially as it relates to 3D medical images.
